Mission & Purpose of Christian Education @ ACC

The C.E.L.T (Christian Education Leadership Team) promotes four core purposes that make up Christian religious education at Affton Christian Church:

  1. We educate to acknowledge our relationship/covenant with God.
  2. We understand that we learn more through ‘open, active theological discussion’ than ‘lecture-based Sunday school teaching’.
  3. We want Biblical engagement that instructs us in how to live our contemporary lives, tackling both the tough, rarely-preached texts and the Biblical stories we know well.
  4. We participate in revitalizing the creative vision of Christian religious education in our congregation and the wider community.

Kid’s Konnection(10:15) – Meets in Worship & Wonder Room

Children begin in worship with their parents until the Children’s Chat.  Your child can participate in Children’s Chat and Kids’ Konnection if they would like, but it is not required.  Children return to worship at the beginning of Communion so they may partake of communion at the consent of their parents.

All of our Leaders and Helpers for Kids’ Konnection are Safe Church trained as to provide a safe environment for your children to learn about God while doing age-appropriate, creative lessons.

Fishers’ Class (9am) –Meets in the Conference Room

The Fishers’ Class offers a formal Bible study and discussion using written curriculum.  Currently, the Fishers’ Class uses The Present Word curriculum.  Leaders of the Fishers’ class rotate weekly.  The Fishers’ Class would love to have you join them in study and discussion.

Pioneers (9:15am) – Meets in Library

This class offers a more casual look at the Christian faith for adults 16+.  These theological discussions are wide-ranging, often on topics of recent events or religious news.  The Pioneers are eager for you to join them in rousing discussion about contemporary faith issues and their intersections with our daily lives.
